Official Languages (Amendment) Act 2021

The Official Languages (Amendment) Bill 2019 was enacted on 22 December 2021. A copy of the new Act is available here.

Every public body named under the Act has a duty to prepare a language scheme when requested to do so by the Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media and to implement that statutory scheme.

The scheme describes the services which the public body proposes to provide:

It is necessary also to specify the steps which the public body intends to take to provide the stated services in Irish or bilingually.
